Normalized Cross Correlation for Stereo Matching Under Varying Illumination
نویسندگان
چکیده
One of the difficulties in obtaining a dense and accurate disparity map through stereo matching is the presence of radiometric variation in the two images used in this process. It is commonly assumed that in stereo matching, the corresponding pixels have similar pixel values. But the presence of this variation causes the regular methods to produce erroneous results. In this paper, we use the concept of normalized cross correlation for the matching purpose which provides a much better result when compared to intensity based methods like sum of absolute differences and sum of squared differences.

Fast Cost Computation Using Binary Information for Illumination Invariant Stereo Matching
Stereo matching methods are used to estimate disparity values from captured stereo images. They exploit characteristics of binocular disparity for disparity estimation. Stereo images captured under practical conditions have different illumination status, which causes disparity errors in the matching operation. To solve this problem, we can use the adaptive normalized cross correlation (ANCC) as...
متن کاملReal Time Stereo Matching for Radiometric Changes
Most of the existing stereo matching algorithms assume that the corresponding pixels have the same intensity (color) in both images. But in real world situations, image color values are often affected by various radiometric factors such as illumination direction, illuminant color, and imaging device changes. Hence, we cannot fully depend on the raw color recorded by a camera. So, the assumption...

The emerging market of digital 3-D film productions in HD resolution leads to the need for high-quality equipment in the production chain. First, the images are treated in order to improve their pixel to pixel correspondence and reduce illumination differences. After that, stereo matching is addressed using different methods with emphasis on local ones like the sum of absolute distances and nor...
متن کاملRobust Similarity Measures for Stereo Correspondence
Normalized cross correlation (NCC), Sum of squared differences (SSD), and Sum of absolute differences (SAD) are the linear correlation measures generally used for stereo correspondence. These measures fail to establish the correspondence under nonideal conditions such as specular reflection, occlusion etc. In this paper, the similarity measures for stereo correspondence based on rank correlatio...
متن کاملA Comparative Study and Evaluation of Stereo Matching Costs for Radiometric Differences
Stereo correspondence algorithm depends on matching costs in order to compute the similarity of the image locations. The insensitivity of various cost functions for stereo algorithm is evaluated with respect to radiometric variations of the given input image. We consider both the window based variants as well as pixel based variants like the absolute difference, the sampling insensitivity absol...
